About Miss Farrell

This is my second year teaching here at OTES. I have been a part of OTES since 2012. While I was a student at the University of Maine, I completed my 100 hour experience and student teaching as a part of the 3rd grade team. Funnily enough, in the same classroom I teach in today! After I graduated I was hired as an Ed Tech in a Composite room. I was working one on one with a student with autism. In March I was asked to take over Mrs. Daniel's 5th grade classroom while she worked on the Robotics curriculum. I was eager for this opportunity, though I loved where I was with my kindergarten student; it was time to get back with a large group of students. I taught science, math, and reading to a (rotating) group of forty students!

Here's my family and I at a reunion

Many of my aunts and cousins are teachers already and we always joke at holidays about how, between all of us, we could have our own "School of Farrells". Early in my program I felt as though my family embodied teachers and that I wasn't fitting that mold. It took time for me to realize that there's not a set mold; I don't want to be a cookie cutter teacher. What is most important is that the students are my first priority and look forward to school each day because I can provide them with security and stability. As I keep moving forward with my career, I find more ways each day how I can help my students.
